Anyone need a consultation with one? I have Chris Day coming shortly and it will be cheaper for travel costs if anyone else wants him to see their horse, while he is coming to me. If you do, add your name to his list by phoning him at Alternative Veterinary Medicine Centre Chinham House, Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire SN7 8NQ Tel: 01367 710324 www.alternativevet.org/contact_information.htm

What's wrong with Barbara Jones at Whittington? She does homeopathy.

Chris Day, I've heard of him, but can't think why. I hope this won't keep me from sleeping Catrin! When is he coming?

Blimey! Oswestry? I didn't know we had one that near.
It would be six to eight weeks before Chris Day could come. Maybe I'll see if he minds if I change my mind, as I was only put on his 'travelling north' list today. I'll try to speak to Barbara Jones tomorrow. I wanted him to look at Freyr's eyes after Wendy IHTS saying he had helped fix her horse's uveitis.
Thanks for the info Jill.

I'm pretty sure there is a vet in or around Malpas. Could be in yellow pages, oh, maybe not yours Catrin. I'll try to look him up, or you could yell.com. My mate Anne from the 1st H.C.M has used him and I'm sure she said he did the consultation over the phone. Or at least he wanted to, but she insisted he came out. I think the diagnosis and treatment were still the same! Anne should be coming on Sat, will you be able to make it again?

Hi Kathy, there is Mike Christian in Kelsall, he is a vet who does some homeopathy, but he isn't a 'fully fledged' homeopath. I have seen him about fox mange as homeopathy is very effective for that. He doesn't specialise in horses though either.
If there are any more homeopathic vets around, I'd be interested as I am treating my cat, so far successfully, for a blocked tear duct, which the 'allopathic' vet said would require surgery.
See you Saturday.

I'd be interested. I don't care who, so long as they're good. We're quite a way from Oswestry, but not that far from you, Catrin, and I might well be able to find some other folks who are interested as well.

The other thing about Chris is all the other therapies he can do though, like chiropractic and acupuncture.

I have rung Barbara Jones and she could come as far as Ruthin, does sometimes work with horses and has no experience of uveitis in horses. I shall stick with the Chris Day visit, but it is useful to know that she is there for my other animals. I now have to decide what to do about the cat.
A consultation with her will cost £157 to see if she can come up with a remedy that works. The two that I have tried so far haven't, though one made a big improvement. The allopathic vet can clear the tear ducts surgically. I need to give it some thought as at present I have a 'tearful' cat again.

Took Frosty to Whittington today. He now has two homeopathic remedies to try. Barbara tested for blocked tear ducts - two hours later, we are still waiting for the drops to come down his nose - so assume this is what his problem is. Hopefully they will clear his tear ducts and then we can see if they stay that way.
Very nice lady, knew her job, discussed the alternative of unblocking them surgically and the likliehood of success, which the normal vet hadn't done. Took her over an hour to get the behavioural history and decide on his constitution, in which time Frosty investigated the surgery thoroughly and decided on his favourite bit: lying on the treatment area looking out of the window at the birds on the lawn.
Didn't see Dick, as we went through Whittington, but the vet lived where the babes were found in the wood!

She is very kind and caring, as well as being a good vet. She treated my JR for emphysema, but after a couple of years we had to accept defeat, and she was so nice when I went to have her PTS.
