Lucid explanation of the French School – very well translated – it is both easy to read and detailed. There are excellent diagrams and photos which give very clear visuals of the written explanations.
What Sally Swift’s Centered Riding books and Sylvia Loch have done for our positions in terms of written work this book achieves for our hands and their relationship with the horse’s mouth.

Whilst this book is a systematic rebuttal of much of the various nations dressage manuals and modern trends in dressage (eg Rolkur) it is also a very well structured book for dressage numpties like me who have never or intend to compete in “mainstream” dressage (or at least not until it changes
) but are working to develop our riding skills and train / improve our horses. Twisted Truths gives excellent explanations of why such methods as Rolkur don’t work and are damaging and how to achieve sympathetically what Rolkur never will.
Twisted Truths is a fabulous follow on from his excellent Long Reining book, it is another MUST read.
