Okay here it is, finally!
I just gave the book back to its owner, which saves you from a novella, as I can't write with details and page references...
I expected quite a lot of this book, but it wasn't so revolutionary as I had thought. The book tells how a rather ordinary rider in USA gets a new horse and suddenly finds natural horsemanship stuff and experiences mystical horse-related visions. These lead to new insight into horse-human relationship which is based on mystical memories from historic cultures and communication with horses' collective mind. That should already tell you that if you're allergic to any new age or otherwise spiritual stuff, this book is a definite NO-NO!
The problem of the book is that it has been targeted to so many people that it doesn't fit properly for anyone. It has information about natural horsemanship, training traumatized horses, art history, horse related myths, paranormal experiences, psychotherapy, literacy and finally using horses as healers for traumatized people.
This is all very interesting but at least I found it confusing that all the information is scattered here and there in a loosely chronological order which makes it really difficult book if you need to search quickly for something specific. The titles are very poetic, so they don't give you much information of the actual topic of the chapter. So there really is a lot of stuff but the format of the book makes it a bit difficult to use.
I'd recommend this to those who are into equine assisted therapy of any form (it's actually a must book in many training programs) and those who are into philosophical thinking. It doesn't necessarily give much information to those who already know quite a lot about psychology and natural horsemanship, but for them it's an easy read, like a novel. However, there are some really amazing case stories which clearly demonstrate that there is much more than meets the eye in the relationship between humans and horses.
