I'll keep your invite in mind, especially if I can find somewhere 'safe' for my horses. I'd love to meet Amicus and see the NH heaven. And of course, I'd love to meet you! How far away is La Cense from you?
Well it isn't exactly cushings since it hasn't developed yet (a bit like HIV and AIDS). But having had a cushings mare, there are signs which tell like the fact he inflates in summer on grass and is hard to keep weight on in winter which is typical. I recently did a blood test that kind of confirmed my fears. He certainly lives up to his name anyway (is that the one where he tanked off?) LOL

Yeah, the tanking off post was the one that stuck in my mind.
Who is who in your siggy pic? They all look lovely but the one grazing in front especially.
La Cense is one hour fifteen minutes drive from me, if traffic is flowing freely. If not, you are buggered. Why are you looking for somewhere safe for your horses? Not OK where they are?
Come any time. We have a Spare Oom not at all palatial but can stretch to two peeps at a time!!!

Hi Steph,
WOW that's a long way! Do you drive every day or is there someone to take care of them there? I used to travel 18 miles to their previous livery yard and found it too much especially in witner but at least there I had a winter paddock which I could use in spring to restrict their grazing. Now they are less than half a mile down my road but it's a fattening farm so the pastures are far too rich. When I came, the farmer said they could stay out or in as I wished and that he would make a paddock and a sand school. One and a half year later, there still is none of those, but with Spirit's probable cushings and Toons who has LGL that could be related to IR (am going to post a question thread to see what DGers think), I really need something like a paddock paradise - or at least a dirt lot. The other reason is that I befriended a young man who seemed to share a lot of my views re horses but turned out to be a bit of a psycho (long story) and I don't feel safe anymore.
In the siggy, there's Toons twice (the one who grazes in front in the avatar but seen from his other side), Spirit, and Jaz who I lost to cushings last year. I'd love to see some pics of Amicus. There are a couple of DGers who are really helpful with creating siggys for us, just do a thread on general asking.

Sorry, been away for a bit. I go there three days per week. He is looked after by them, out in a large field with company so no worries when I can't be there.
It is hard to get paddocks suitable for barefooters, unless you have your own land, that is sure. I have been dropping hints at la Cense and they always make the right noises, but nobody there is really 'driving this'... and I want to spend my time riding, not talking about pea gravel all the time.
I will have to find some nice photos for a proper siggy now!
