I just thought I'd let anyone interested know that we moved Esther over to Jo's this morning. Given the last time I travelled a horse with a friend of a friend it was an absolute disaster, I thought I pay someone this time as Esther is not that experienced. The people I used - DKS - weren't necessarily cheap but what a nice man! The wind was blowing a gale, it was raining and Betty was yelling for England, all of which got Esther on her toes a bit. If he'd started getting impatient or insisted I start pushing her, she'd have had a wobbly without a doubt. As it was, he let me get on with it, waited calmly and added in the praise as each leg went forwards. He then let her have a moment to settle before raising the ramp, closing doors, etc. Yes, it took an extra 10 minutes of his time but we then had a pony who travelled happily and came off the other end as if nothing had happened.
So based on that good experience, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

there is also a really nice lady called sam she runs a transport company called equines in motion.nice lady and really patient. she is very reasonable the lorry is really nice, and the horses travel rear facing which i liked. bless her she even put me another bale of shavings in the stable while i held bailey outside. i really liked and would def use her again.

Will do, Cookie. I've also now used Sam and can confirm she's very good too.

Thank you both for your help, I got very helpful quotes from both however then little pony failed the vetting on soundness. I'm quite sad as she was very good and prettier today than I remembered...
not to be, but hopefully I will have cause to contact them again... C x

Oh no, what a shame! Was it a temporary something that's worth waiting a bit for?

well, the vet and owner got into a rather heated debate about whether or not she was sound. She was certainly nodding on one rein although it took me a fair bit of concentration to see it. I guess if the owner had agreed with the vet then we could have thought, well maybe she had knocked herself or got a stone or whatever and tried again. But the facts are she was nodding and she's 6 and I have to go with the vet who failed her. (the owner agreed she was nodding but "to balance herself").
I'm not experienced enough to start trying to diagnose or remedy a pre purchase lameness sadly. Others may have managed things differently but thats how it went. Yesterday I was shocked tbh, today I'm sad. I just hope they find her a good home.
