Oh damn it, the dust has got in my eyes in again, they seem to be watering profusely, of course I'm not crying at all!!!!
She is absolutely beautiful EMW and what lovely markings, sort of flea bitten grey but Percheron sized!
I am so chuffed she's in a lovely home and Lancia too and all the others, what a truly heartwarming outcome.
Now we need to work hard to change the rules on live transportation for the rest of the poor equine souls.

Glad I'm typing this as I'm too filled up with emotion to speak. It's just the best thing ever to see Cybelle safe at last(and the others too). Aren't horses incredible in their ability to adapt to whatever the new day brings. I keep thinking about the horses which will be replacing Cybelle and the other saved ones at the fattening farm. Let's hope we can help stop these ludicrously long one-way journeys.

I hope we can help make changes too Cobby, Roz, Cobstar and everyone else, like me, who could weep an ocean for those equines that WILL suffer the awful journey to death in Italian abattoirs. By launching our own campaign and running it along side the ILPH international campaign for Hook not Hoof lets hope enough people power will get the EU welfare amendments made to ensure local abattoirs are available and enforcably used by meat farmers in EU countries and close the loopholes that allow British ponies to still go out and into mainland europe for slaughter. I - on behalf of EMW Sanctuaries UK - hope to be speaking with various editors on this subject during the course of the coming weeks. Cybelle is indeed a lucky mare all thanks to kind hearted people who care enough to make a difference. emw x

I'd be happy to help with the campaign in any way I can! We must celebrate small successes like the recent rescue of the French horses but we mustn't lose sight of the bigger picture which is to stop there being a market for such horses. And EMW are making a valuable difference already as is everyone whose been involved in the rescue of Cybelle etc. EMW should be proud of the difference they make and the public profile they have given the level of human and monetary resources they have available. (And I used to be policy and comms manager for a national education charity with a staff of 6.5 when I joined LOL).
