Question - has any one who has rescued sorted insurance and if so what type of insurance have you took out, i just thought i would ask to see what everyone else has done and if the fact they are rescue horses makes any difference to the insurance companies? Thank-You

yes, got mine done - have used pet plan, they gave me the best price....only £19 a month. also my vet seems to think they are one of the best at paying out. mind you my other horses are with seib and they have been pretty good.

£19 is vets bills upto £5000 - think its £135 excess or there abouts, retired horse at grass, strangely it is 100% loss of use?? i got my quote online as really easy to do....if you try it, do it a couple of times as it seemed to get cheaper!?!

I am with Pet Plan for all of mine and insured Guinevere the day she was paid for. Accidents are covered for the first 14 days, then illness. Excess is £115, up to £5000 is paid for vets. It costs me £12 per month with Pet Plan - she is insured as a pasture ornament. Do E&L pay out well now? I know they used to have a terrible reputation I have my Luso with Scottish Equestrian. They quoted me £200 a year for her (she is a yearling). Pet Plan quoted me over £500!! She is only insured for £1000!

sixfoot blonde-why is your insurance so much cheaper than mine?!?!?! agh just thought it may be because they have put loss of use on? will double check...not sure how you can have loss of use for a field ornament:)

Ok I just sorted my insurance, altogether for the two £220 a year, thats with petplan, there covered for vets bills with £115 excess and cover up to 5k. Tila won't be covered for any diseases etc, just injuries. I thought that was ok.

I have only ever heard terrible thinkgs about E&L, and my vets hate them. Was talking to them about insurance last year, and they almost every claim they have ever known with E&L has had problems.
