has anybody tried the bach flower remedies? i have seen them and i was wondering about trying them for my nerves, but i wanted to know if anybody here had used them first.
If you have, do they help with your fears, and are they worth trying? thanks giftgirl

Fab things! The most commonly used is Rescue Remedy which is made up of 5 flowers and is great at a time of heightened emotions eg exams, bereavement, shock, riding! You can be more specific and get indivudial rems for specific issues such as aggression, fear of known things, feelings of self worth, the list goes on. They also work well on horses and other animals. Health food shops sell them as well as a list of ailments/remedies to guide you through. Nicola Bebb who posts on here is fab and uses them so can be more specific and provide you with a mix if needed. Just do a thread for her or pm her. The rems in shops cost about £4 a bottle and last yonks. You mix a couple of drops in a glass of water and sip at intervals - that's it! You could do a search on the net too as there are masses of them! Good luck x

Think I may try Rescue Remedy for myself! I've been giving Hannibal the walnut bach flower remedy when he moved yards as its supposed to help with adapting to new environments. Seems to have worked well he is very settled now!

Second the rescue remedy! It seems to help calm me down if I'm feeling extra nervous. I also sometimes put a dab of lavender oil on my cuffs as it's meant to have a calming influence There was a thread about bonfire nite on which nicola posted all the remedies & their uses, I'll try & find it for you. I printed it off but I don't know how to scan it onto here Found it ! Hope it's useful ihdg.proboards91.com/index.cgi?board=Discuss&action=display&thread=1161883004&page=1

Lavender is great (exam nerves & horse's loading nerves) and the rescue remedy, I keep one bottle in my tack box and one in my handbag at all times - people think I'm bonkers giving it to my horses the RR but it is excellent!

I have to say I had a dog that had separation anxiety and I tried RR and it didn't do anything for him... I was gutted cause I'd had a letter from the council saying one of the neighbours (a right busybody) had complained about him crying while I was out and I really wanted to settle him... and when i tried it I thought it tasted a bit like alcohol! lol - or maybe that was just wishful thinking? But as a lot of people on the DG rave abou it I am tempted to try it again for my riding nerves.... although my OH did buy me a hip flask for Christmas - lol.. so what's it to be? Hip Flask or Rescue Remedy?

Put the RR in the hipflask with something .... medicinal.... and sip at regular intervals?
