Absolutely fantastic ! I'm about to take on my first loan horse (at the ripe old age of 40!), and whilst I do feel 'ready', I'm also.... well, let's just say trips to the loo have increased (not literally, but I am bricking it).
I can see many a group hug and plenty of soggy shoulders in the future. Well done Kelly and Admin for a great section. Hurrah !

Dear IHDG Admin :
It is wonderful , so grateful and pleased from all the hard work you all do. I hope I learn as much as I possibly can from all the intelligent people on this DG which I admire so much.

Hello All, I am a new member. My name is Diane and I live in Australia. I have recently been working on my confidence. After my horse bucked me off about five years ago, I had ridden only a few times. When my doctor told me I must get more exercise, I thought it was sad to go to aerobics, when I would much rather go riding. Since I still don't have the confidence to ride my old mare, especially since she hasn't been ridden in five years, I decided to go to a trail riding establishment near my home. I told the people there that I was nervous, they were very understanding, and selected a clydesdale cross gelding for me to ride. I was fully prepared to pack up and leave if I didn't feel safe. But it turned out that 'Joker' was very trustworthy and quickly built my confidence in him. I have been on a ride every week for seven weeks now and have ridden three different horses. The mare that I rode seemed to get nervous when I did and I didn't enjoy riding her at all, the next was a 17.1hh gelding who has a wonderful laid back attitude, never shies. When I worry about something, he seems to say, 'just relax, this is fun'. The other good thing I have found is that on a trail ride I have companey, which gives me confidence that if something goes wrong, I am with someone who can help me. I look forward to getting to know some members of this group. Best wishes, Diane from Australia.

Hello, I'm glad to hear you have started to ride again and are enjoying it. I hope that you continue to regain your confidence and will be able to ride your horse again. There are lots of people on here who have confidence 'wobbles' and I hope you will be able to see that you arent alone in this.
Welcome to the board and let us know how you are getting on.xxx

Hiya All,
Well, being Mrs observant I've only just noticed this section today and I'm so happy....thanks a million to whoevers idea it was. I have frequent wobbly days when it comes to riding so it's great to have a dedicated place to come where everyone else will know where I'm coming from and where we can all support each other.

I'm just thrilled to find a place where I can a. talk about my own personal bugs, b. read everyone else's stories, which then leads to c. the realisation that I'm not alone - which is an enormous help. So is the fact that everyone encourages everyone else! Marvellous!! (Was that English? It's pre-coffee time for me, so I'm nowhere near awake yet...)

Connpony... just to welcome you aboard and give my hearty congratulations at taking that first step back to confidence. That took guts. Really looking forward to hearing of your ongoing journey. Hi Gilly, you haven't heard our soft moans and whines from the main DG?? Lol.
