Excellent news Kofihorse!
Jo R,
When I showed my girl, I showed her in the "normal" way (e.g as if she were a riding pony) but I did carry a schooling whip. It was VERY handy for swishing the flies off her! Knowing what some of the mad people are like, I also thought it could be useful to fend off any loose colts! When riding, it is also very handy for fly swishing purposes too! I have attached a piece of fluorescent yellow to the end of my riding one. Then if I hear traffic coming when I am on a bend, I can extend my arm and whip, in the hope that they spot the fluorescent, before they see us! It really does seem to work! So schooling whips do have their uses, you don't have to use them to make your horse pose like a giraffe or beat them with one!

Well done Sounds like everything went very well! We need to see pics though ;D Why won't you be doing it again? (asks she who has shown twice - 16 years apart!)

were any of the handlers wearing hats? We don't see many hat wearing in N Wales apart from the men in flat caps in the welshy rings.

well done khan!!!
heidi, I often ride with a schooling whip when training lateral movements, I just dont think they are for use when inhand showing, they are schooling whips as they are used when schooling.

Karon, I just think it is an awful lot of hard work grooming, travelling, standing around and running in the ring!! And it's not really any kind of achievement, is it? I prefer riding I would love to have done ridden showing with Kofi but there was no chance, really, as he was such a naughty boy. Now that would have been an achievement to be proud of!! However, Khan is a calm boy and I'm planning to have lessons this summer so maybe we might give ridden showing a go.............but then I would have to find the cash for the boots, jacket, hat etc etc Some of the handlers were wearing velvet riding hats and one was wearing an Aussie hat. The rest were like me, hatless!

I haven't actually bought a pic but can send one as a postcard from the photographer's site. I need to enter the email addy on the website in order to do this - does anyone know if they could then post it on here? I'm a techno-duffer, can only manage photobucket!

Kofihorse, I know what you mean. The last time I showed Ash (her second time!) it was so much hassle! I sort of enjoyed it, and we didn't come last (possibly, trying to flatten the judge with her ears nailed back didn't win Ash any points...) but I don't think I'll do it again If the Arab classes at the West mid show were a bit better supported I might think about taking one of mine, but the years Rash was 1 and 2 she would have won by default as there were no filly entries at all.
