Hi, I was anxious for nothing to go wrong with the birth of our first Shire foal so we installed a reasonably cheap camera from B and Q in her loosebox and it was connected to the tv and could be switched over so that we could monitor from the comfort of the house. The mare however thought differently. She waited until I'd gone out for the afternoon and foaled in the field leaving my poor husband to be the midwife after the foal arrived safely without assistance! It was useful to monitor the foal for the first few days though. Every time the adverts came on television, I switched over to mother and daughter. It was brilliant. Like others have said on here, they'll foal when they want to!
