I went bitless with a parelli halter a few months ago with my PBA. I was a bit (ha!) apprehensive but was unfounded. I bought a side pull rope halter which was a waste of money because I found the Parelli type was sufficient. I have got my local bridle maker to copy the Parelli and make it up in leather and it works just as well. Leather has the advantage of breaking more easily than nylon rope should you get it caught. So now we go barefoot, treeless and bitless!!

Just had my second ride in my Dr Cook's Bitless bridle and it's still good news.
I know it's early days but so far so good. Long may it last. Merry Christmas everyone, have a lovely day tomorrow.

Christmas Eve and have just driven throught Appleby town centre with a Dr Cook bitless, driving without a groom, shoes, whip, terrets, blinkers or of course a bit. To make life less boring, I had Achilles, our large crossbred dog on a lead. A lump of metal in a horses mouth doesn't make it any safer. Every animal I have gone bitless with is just so much happier. I will cheerfully trade total control for a happy pony. Give your pony or horse a Christmas present, let it go around without a lump of metal in its face. static.flickr.com/26/66003308_277ff7f0c2_o.jpg[/img] static.flickr.com/26/66003308_277ff7f0c2_o.jpgIf the pic works, it's my 8 year old driving Henry at a canter, bitless, and having fun. Hi Simon,
I've just been talking about you with Sheila from the Bitless Bridle Company. All good so don't worry.
She mentioned that your horses are all barefoot and I was wondering how you find going barefoot. I am interested in trying it but am unsure if any farriers do barefoot work in our area.
Any comments good or bad would be much appreciated or I could PM you.
Thanks, Angela
