Most cubes I know of come with a 'dampen when feeding' on the bag. Calm and condition does even though its small pellets more like a balancer than a cube as such. I always dampen feeds with sugarbeet. I wouldnt feed anycube straight out of the bag unless it was only a handful, I have found most cubes swell to 2 or 3 times the size when soaked for an hour.

I use the A & P Quiet Pencils but my boy only has half a handful and my mare a whole handful, I do wet the feed before feeding but don't soak it but if they were having more then I definitely would as I had the unfortunate experience of choke with my old boy on Baileys Economy Nuts even after wetting them. Ended up with a stomach pump at 2am in the morning to clear it! I haven't bought them since and that was 1996 but funnily enough have just purchased a bag to try again mixed in with the A & P as the ingredient/analysis is quite similar, a tad more fibre and a £1 cheaper for a bag! They have changed the size of the nuts, they are smaller and more compact now, they used to be quite big like the riding school pony nuts I remember as a child but have slimmed them down quite a lot now, still wouldn't feed them dry thou! Although I am sure as a kid at the riding school, all the nuts were fed dry all the time in quite large quantities! We are going back a few years now thou - LOL
