Here's the link: www.nevzorov-haute-ecole.com/en/alexander_nevzorov.phpGo straight to the photogallery, some nice quality pictures there. As a word of warning: don't go dwelling too deep in the text department, unless you can take all you read with a grain of salt. This man is a Russian ex-stunt rider and extreme rightwing ex-politician, and his views on Monty Roberts (amongst other things) are questionable to say the least. The tone is rather overemotional and extremist, so don't say I didn't warn you. A fine horseman, all the same. Enjoy the photos.

Blimey! Some of those photos are incredible but still not sure what I think yet, I don't particularly enjoy human-dominance-over-horse images but I guess he's trying to illustrate the 'willingness' of the horse to work with him - I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he's training them. I need to find out more and I'm really interested in this Horse Encyclopaedia thing. Has anyone read /seen it? His horses are stunning. *sticks neck out* I read a bit of the text and actually related to some of what he was saying - bit strong perhaps but I have to admit to having had mental wrangles about the right to put a bit in a horses mouth, strap it up in leather and climb on it's back myself more then once. It perhaps comes across the way it does because of the translation from Russian? But then again horses make me feel emotional! If he's promoting "how you can be with a horse, in alliance with a horse and on a horse with its consent, and not against its will" through means of understanding and non-violence then I'm with him so far. The Monty bit was harsh but I'm not a racing fan either! *sticks neck back in* Erm - Merry Christmas Everyone!

Just looked quickly at photos -some were certainly stunning - the photography of the horses heads is just amazing. I wouldn't mind some enlarged on my wall.

Weren't they awful?! I can see where the Russian guy's coming from, if he's trying to stop that! Can't help those others horses directly, but at least my boy will NEVER suffer any of that!

Ok, well just flicked through a few of his pictures and most are lovely. However the "horrors of equestrian sport" irritated me somewhat. Some of the pictures were horrid, bad bits and people obviously yanking thier horses in the mouth, I strongly disagree with bucking straps and rodeos and having horses near bulls with horns, BUT there are pictures of horses in snaffle bits who have just tensed against the bit for a moment and a picture was taken, one of a black welsh/cob poiny who looks like her had just thrown his head up and pulled the bit a little, didnt look in any pain or discomfort, plenty of horses whose mouths were being pulled slightly (riders left behind over a fence) My point is you tell me that NONE of you has NEVER had a horse tense against the bit for a split second (when stood still and horse wants to go forward for example) or tell me you have NEVER been slightly left behind over a fence? i dont like the pictures of horses with thier heads up and mouths open in obvious discomfort and obviously frightened, I dont like the pictures of horses overbent or with draw reins on (think everyone knows my feelings on draw reins!) and it upsets me to see a horses mouth bleed.
Why is it that people say "oooh THATS why I never compete, it happens all the time" The number of times Ive seen bleeding mouths at an event and people yanking thier horses heads off are less than the ones ive seen happy, calm with lovely riders. If I were allowed I would compete with a leadrope round my horses neck just to prove a point, those of us who compete are not all inconsiderate horse abusers who haul and yank and have no consideration for horses mouths, backs or anything else.
This person looks like an amazing horseperson, someone i would certainly like to meet, but then he would probably hate me the minute he knew I used a bit and competed....

Couldn't help thinking that is what happened in this guy's reaction to Monty Roberts. The very fact that MR helps racehorses to carry on with their racing makes him "a horse abuser" in Nevzorov's book. Hardly a rational reaction, I think. Same thing with some of the "horrors of equestrian sport" photos - some tenseness in the horses mouth doesn't really qualify as "horrific". Definitely a controversial figure, this man. The good thing is the more racket he makes the more people will stop and pay attention - which surely is a good thing.
