In the wilds near Huddersfield, you might know them as Discount Saddlery, they also do a lot of mail order. Their website is www.discountsaddlery.co.uk/

I did a survey to decide which saddle to stock in our shop and Thorowgood came out on top. As from January we'll be stocking the full range, plus secondhand leather saddles. The Throwgoods are very highly rated and I can't wait to get them in the shop. I already have orders for 4 saddles.

I tried a Thorowgood selecta last night with fish, most uncomfortable thing I have ever sat on. I have had Wintecs in the past and found them to be great but I just couldnt get on with the Throrowgood - it had a very small twist and I found that my bottom was hanging off the saddle on both sides! I dont have a particulary large bottom BTW, and my instructor had the same problem and she is tiny!

OOh beryl where did you find one new at that price? Any numbers will be greatly received, it will be a belated prezzie to Holly!

I find the wintecs very uncomfortable and on all the horses i've seen them on they dont look right and they slip alot in my experience.

The other thing with the wintecs is that they're a bit of a compromise as one saddle is meant to be able to fit a much wider range of horse widths. This means that the gullet is probably too narrow at the back if you're in an XW plate and too wide at the front if you're in a narrow.

I too have one of these saddles and also find them very comfortable and they are so handy as i have a young horse so the saddle is just excellent for the fact that i can alter the width!

I looked at this saddle... liked the idea of the FISH system.. but wondered whether it would allow enough adaption to fit my youngster who is now rising 5.. and a MW-HW vanner type.. ??
Thanks for any advice x

I am 99.9% sure that the saddle would fit your horse tinker, they are very adjustable, even though they only have three different fitting options this has proved to be sufficient in my opinion.
