If there was to be an open day at an equstrian centre near you, what would you like to see there? what would encourage you to go along?what would you like to see?

Happy, friendly people. Should go without saying, but I've been to places and have felt decidedly unwelcome. Well cared for, happy horses. Again, should go without saying but at this same place we were allowed to look around and without warning this horse launched himself at me over his stable door. They could at least have put up a warning sign. Needless to say, I wouldn't return to this place.
Personally, I'm not a big dressage fan, so how about a bit of jumping? Alos, a variety of horses. Could also do a bit of "horse whispering". Call a RA and ask them to do a demo - fascinating. Hope this helps.

Dressage, demos by good trainers, alternative therapies (not my cup of tea but I know many find it interesting), saddler, dentist, farrier/trimmer ..........

personally i like to see breed demos, I took part in one run by the Highland Pony enthusiasts club, was great, had different native breeds so some 'showing' and jumping with tips on how to produce them and secrets for getting nice manes/tails/feathers etc. Would be interesting to see a showringmanship type thing for in-hand. Would also be interesting to hear from a barefoot trimmer and traditional farrier about thier views and take Q&A Also be interesting to have a talk rom a saddler& physio on the effects of a good and poorly fitting saddle and how to tell if your saddle isnt quite right for your horse. Something on homeopathy/accupuncture/reiki/massage etc with hand on demo. quick showjumping masterclass, a round from a showjumper followed by a 'lesson' for two other people over a course of fences with showjumper explaining why hes getting htem to do X Y and Z and how it will help the horse... or the same sort of setup but with gymnastic gymping. Dressage to music....wonderful to watch.

Bit dangerous Jo - a farrier and a barefoot trimmer together in the same place! I got two farriers discussing my horse's feet once, and that was bad enough (they disagreed you see). I like to see all sorts of stuff horsey, it's more the "how" than the "what" I'm interested in. If it's a demo of dressage and it looks forced and tough on the horse I'm not interested. If rider and horse are in harmony then I'll watch for hours. The same goes for everything.
