Hello,
I want to start giving my horses loose minerals and salt. They seem to have stopped licking their salt blocks.
My questions are:
1) We have "Redmond's salt" which is a natural mineral & salt product (non-kiln dried or processed) that can be put in their feed. I've been told to offer regular table salt as well?? Would this be ok?
2) We have very high winds here all the time (we live in the mountains), and I have no idea what to put the salt/minerals in, so that they don't blow everywhere. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

If they have stopped licking their salt blocks it is probably because they don't currently need the salt and minerals. Horses are very good at taking what they need when they need it, so rather than putting it into their feed where they have to take it I would leave them be with their lick. They will soon start licking again if they need to.

I agree with casper they will use the lick when they need it.They may get more than they need if it's in their feed.
