Ours are out 24/7 with hay supplemented in field when necessary. They have Top Spec as a feed, and when they require more, they have Graze On, unmolassed Sugar Beet, Linseed Oil/Flakes. I will use concentrate occasionally - horses who have come to us as welfare cases, horses struggling to maintain weight through age/illness etc - but I am careful as to which feeds I pick - low on grain, sugar etc.

our other two that are at a livery yard is out 24/7 and gets bread and scones and all sorts as non the other horses in the field will eat it so its an easy way to feed them with out fights.

I voted Hi-fi/sugar beet as I can't get simple systems in Belgium. Mine get grass - restricted in spring and autumn - in summer and soaked hay in winter and when restricted as well as a balancer all year round. In winter, they also get a handfull of high-fibre/low sugar mix and two scoops of unmollassed sugarbeet soaked with alfalfa pellets and a bit of bran to even it out.

Green stuff plus a balancer only in the summer, then add hay when it's not enough in the Autumn, then add Simple Systems in the winter when additional is needed. But always hay first.

Robin: breakfast - balanced show mix which is a mix and mollassed chaff, and barley rings and a flap of hay out in day (40 acres in a herd of 20) dinner - show mix, blue chip, sugar beet and barley rings plus cortaflex and carrots/apples/parnsips etc and as much hay as he will eat whenever he is in, usually about 5 sections at night
The others live out and just have dinner which is either alpha-a or hifi plus mix or nuts of some sort plus soaked sugar beet and barley rings.

I have voted "concentrates and fibre" as Maddie gets ad-lib hay at night and is TO during the day. She has a feed in the morning and night consisting of sugar beet (would like to use unmolassed but nowhere stocks it other than the speedi beet) HiFi and Cool mix + various supplements.
