Well with Blue, I never felt easy enough with him to do what I wanted which as some fun rides, RC, perhaps a hunter trial for fun, a little dressage. Blue got strong in company which rattled me, and travelling beyond trot was a problem unless he was in front. I want a reliable, laid back, submissive type, not an alpa horse asking me questions on every hack! I'm almost 5'9" with a long leg so 15.2"-16hh would be great. I think I would like some lighter than Blue too as I've got on with non-cob types in the past. Sorry if this all sounds thick. I'm looking for a perfect partner. Hacking is my main preoccupation.

Shame you werent looking when I had alfie he would have been perfect for you. With the above horse id want to know why the draw reins, no good if you want to do dressage and he's very difficult to get on the bit

Right, from what you can see, he has a fabulous foreleg. good hind leg, wonderful length of quarters from hip to croup ( a horse's engine ) , I can't see how his neck or head is set on because of the photo -------BUT not ONE person has noticed that he has a wacking great CURB!!!! which immediately precludes him from the show ring and I'm not sure how it would affect vetting. Many TB's bred for racing have curbs because the General Stud Book is the ONLY breed society to allow a stallion to be licenced if he has a curb ( they can be hereditery) as" Form "rules. and mares with curbs are also used . ( I had a long discussion with the Manager of the National Stud about this) Depending on what job you wish him to do Kanga, the curb, once established should not affect him but it IS a technical unsoundness and as I say, an absolute, No No in the ring. If however that doesn't bother you and he is good for you in every other way I really like what I can see ( with a few good dinners inside him ) except for the curb

The large lump at the back of his hind leg, just below the hock is the curb.

best horse and quietest horse I have ever ridden/owned was an Irish TB he was wonderful in every way sensible and kind had a super jump and although forward going was very very easy to pull up, great in traffic and generally a first class first horse. Curb might be a problem though and to my now native eye he could do with a tad more weight

Ooh... looking back now for the curb. Thanks for that. Probably explains the low price. Yes, nice colour.

A sheepskin noseband too, suggests he has a tendency to go around with his head up. This has always confused me-whenever I have seen a ned with one of these, they are often also wearing a martingale (which I always understood was for keeping the head down). I notice that this one's wearing both-I'm sure that there must be a reasion for both that is not in my fledgling knowledge, but as to his looks, he looks kind to me.

I think he looks like he will make a nice horse!
My TB looked very similar to him 2 years ago- it doesnt take too long to build topline- with a bit of schooling he will muscle up nicely. My TB is a great hack- contrary to popular belief they usually are if they have raced as they hack out a lot. Also they usually have been to lots of shows so load well etc.
It took us quite a long time to get organised jumping as TBs can be a bit 'scooby doo' about their legs but they figure it out in the end!

Well I'm seeing another horse tomorrow and will take a look at this one mid-week. Thanks for all the very useful feedback. He's rather well priced which worries me!
