I have been riding for approx 20 years. The only break in that was when I had my daughter 10 years ago.
The first horse I owned was called Oscar. He was a Cleveland Bay (pure bred) 16.1hh and the best first horse anyone could ever want. I paid £750 for him. Money well spent!

I first sat on a horse at 18 months. Played about a bit until I started proper lessons at a riding school at 8.
Had a break from riding for a couple of years when boys seemed a better option (heaven forbid!)
Time and lack of money forced me to continue at riding schools etc until 25 when I bought my first actual horse. Am now 35.

Wow! By doing this thread I don't feel so bad. Thought that I had been riding too long and would never get my own. Now still think there is hope.

I had my first pony when I was 7, but didn't go off the leading rein until I was 10. I then rode until I had my third baby and had a 10 year break (BIG MISTAKE TO GIVE UP HORSE OWNING). I did a bit of riding out on hunter liveries and the like, and daughter got a pony and can ride, but was never that keen.
Started again 10 years ago and it was almost like learning to ride again. I have never got back into jumping, yet I used to event and hunt in my 20s.

Started riding before I could walk, we used to tack ponies on our farm. First own pony when I was 7. Have had horses all my life.

I started riding when I was 3, so have been riding for 13 years. Helped out at the stables, rode and looked after other peoples horses, then got my own in April this year ;D

I started riding when I was 11 and had lessons for a year. I them got M.E. and had to take a 3yr break before starting again really slowly. That was 8yrs ago and I got my first horse 6yrs ago.

I started riding when I was 2 and, apart from a break of about 9 years when I had the kids, and thenanother 3 year break when I broke my neck, I've always had horses.
