I am the same I haven't ridden now for 5 weeks but to be honest this time of year I am not worried!! we all deserve some time off and to be honest I would rather wait till warmer and lighter and ride gentle and regular than go out 1 or twice a week and prob not enjoy the ride so much because I know she will be a bit of a brat as she hasn't been out! I didn't ride from my 4th month of pregnancy mainly because even though I trust my horse I also knew it just wasn't woth the risk in case something did happen. They love the time off, all my girls are happy as larry when they can just potter around the field. 2 of them are ex-polo anyway so they are used to 6 months off every year!! Enjoy the time you have and spend time on the ground with them instead! Lunging is a good alternative, until the rain came I used to do it with my baby in the car watching me through the window!! Kept him amused!! Put your feet up because when bambino arrives you will wish you had!! x

Horse's number one hobby .... eating. Number two hobby .... eating. Third hobby ..... you've guessed it, eating. You don't have to ride and you certainly don't have to ride if you are having a baby. Nothing is more important than the health of your baby and if you don't want to ride it's not compulsory.
My mother rode until she was eight months pregnant and I think I am more horse than person so watch out.

Daft mare! You are a very caring owner and Gordo landed on his feet when you took him on. I expect he'll be quite happy to be pootling around his field - he won't mind at all thata he's not being ridden, I'm sure! Just look after yourself.

Once you're fit and able, riding is a great way to get that pelvic floor back in place! Er... that and the mucking out (horse not nappies!)

if you think you are bad owner I must be flipping awful then,,,,I have not riding since the beginning of last yr, he was ridden a few times during the dry part of the summer.. he was out 24x7 and now he is in at night, I did see him every day though. in 2002 when I had my son I did not ride him from the time I found out i was pregnant to over a yr after, did he care......no, his biggist hobby is also eating and sleeping

I feel just the same. I havn't ridden my mare for a few weeks due to the weather and dark nights, and also the enourmous amounts of course work and revision i've had to do, can;t wait for my exams to be over, just about 2 weeks, and then i can have more time to ride. Don't think splash really cares though but she has got a lottle highly strung but i think thats mainly because of the windy weather, will make a nice chance if shes a bit fizzy when i ride her tho, shes not usually!lol. Congratulations by the way!!! xxx

I agree with Lark - i think there's a lot to be said for winding down the riding over winter. My horse has been off work due to illness and although I have another to ride so I'm not feeling too many withdrawal symptoms, I do think it's done us both good to have a bit of time off.
Good luck with the pregnancy Gordo - I felt completely poleaxed by fatigue and sickness during mine, so I'm not surprised you don't feel much like riding!
