If the new girth doesn't work, try a crupper. They stop the saddle from slipping forward. It might be that you need to build up some muscle on his shoulders to prevent the saddle moving. As you have said he has been out of work, you may just have to build the muscle up in front.

Hi all, just an update really; i had the saddle fitter out to check the fit and he said it needed re-stuffing at the front which was causing it to tip fwd... (Roz) It's 3 months old and the stuffing is really nice and soft - so its gone today and i'll get i back on weds He did say when i bought it that it would probably need adjustment after a few months and somebody else did say after 30 hrs in the saddle it's best to have it re-checked... I didn't want to go down the crupper route really as I think he would object to that - he has scars under his tail and if rubbed they can bleed a bit fingers crossed anyway that this is the solution and thanks for all your replies
