Anyone catch this in media? Apparently, the horse tranquilizer Ketamine, has found favour amongst drug users on the dance scene. Bonkers or what? You can spot the users in the club, they're the ones not dancing just spaced out staring at the wall.

It never fails to amaze me what people will put into there systems. My brother knows a few people who have tried it (and no he is not stupid enough to give it a go himself), it is very easy to take too much and knock yourself out completely. The mind boggles.

this have been going on for some time now, I started seeing it on the scene about 10 years ago, but I had no idea that it would grow in popularity....It is quite a potent drug and I think it is sad that the effect that it has is something that people are wanting...just sitting as a vegetable in a corner is not really my idea of fun...

I haven't seen this on the news but ketamine has been around for ages. I would never touch the stuff, really don't see the point, but have seen some that have. They can't move, can't speak, apart from the complete stupidity of taking it due to its inherent dangers it doesn't really strike me as much of a fun night out.

My recent ex boyfriend happily told me how his friends did it, and how he would love to try it. Which is why he is now an ex! It is very popular now, and easy to get hold of. It doesnt make users just veg, it can do but thats not the effect that people are wanting.
"Ketamine produces a disassociative state in a user. Effects can range from rapture to paranoia to boredom. The user feels its hallucinogenic effects and experiences impaired perception. Ketamine commonly elicits an out-of-body or near-death experience; it can render the user comatose."

Agree been around a while. It's 'street name' was Special K at one point (1993). Horrible stuff. Just makes you mindless. Some idiot gave it to a friend of mine once without her knowing. I turned around to talk to her and she was a drooling heap on the sofa. I immediately asked what she had been given and he told me. He was thrown out of the party with a parting slap (by two big guys!) and we were getting ready to take her to the hospital when she started to perk up and was much better! Lucky escape for her. We all laugh about it now, but we all know deep down it was a close call. If she had had just a bit more than what she was given, she may not be with us now.

Yes, had a friend who used to take a lot of E at one point, in the early 90's, and she reckons she's had them cut with Ketamine before now. Made her lose all sensation down one side of her body.... (my friends sometimes wondered why I wasn't into taking drugs... ) Sad thing is I remember talking to 2 guys at a party at university and they were describing how they had cut cocaine with Ajax and then sold it on! Ajax is powdered bleach for God's sake!!! There are some really sick, heinous individuals out there and they simply don't care what they sell to people.

Yes when i was living in south London up until about 6 weeks back, ketamine was huge there, specially around the council estates.
Wendy, people mix cocaine/Crack with Talc also, which has led to overdoses, as obviously its extremely dangerous!! Drugs are dangerous to a degree, but its more what people mix it with that causes overdoses ETC!

Lovelylace, i do get what your saying, but with these drugs its more of a mind thing and u dont actually think ur sitting in the corner like a veg.. And thats in cases of slightly too much for your body, but when taking an amount ur stystem can handle thats not usually the reaction ppl get, bursts of energy etc are more in often what it does!

They must be mad............. a few years ago when i was sedating jack to clip i got a tiny bit under my finger nails. Not much but enough to make my nails bright yellow. Scrubbed my hands when i got home, but later on without thinking bit my nails! Ob. hadnt got it all off and was totally out of it for hours - it was a horrible feeling, couldnt keep my eyes open and was so drowsy.
Dont understand how anyone could like that feeling!

Remeber lucy that ketamine is mixed into a different form for so called clubbers and in most cases the ketamine is found in a tablet ie like Ecstacy!
