Have to agree. What bothers me is Gilly Cooper who is the chairperson of some canine/animal society. Whenever I see her interviewed (and thias has been over the last 6 years or so, so it is not like she obtained the dog fat and it was 'on a diet') she has had an OBESE labrador. It looks like a table with pins as legs. She has three (I think it's three) other dogs who are in the overweight catogory, but this main labX thingy is HUGE. grossly overwight. How she has the cheek to rant on about animal cruelty when she allows a dog to be like that is beyond me. Anyone else seen this dog in her interviews? (ps the interviews are always at her home regarding her writing, not anything to do with animals)

Have seen Jilly Coopers dogs and as much as i LOVE her i have to agree entirely big dog! I find it so frustrating because these people with fat dogs genuinly dont realize they are being cruel - makes me want to strap 20 extra kilos to them and see how they like lugging it around all day.

I agree with all that's been said so far. But just want to make the point that sometimes the owner might be doing all they can.
I have two dogs, both old boys. One greyhound, perfect weight. One fat tub called Rascal, Staffie Lab X. He's on the tiniest bit of food am and pm, no treats, 2 to 3 walks a day and out the garden pottering around the rest of the time. Can't run or have extended exercise as got heart condition. So what else can I do? Vet has told me it's just one of those things, but I would love to be able to help him further. He's already on presciption diet (KD food) and medication for heart condition. Any ideas will be gratefully received!
