I have just taken my boys plaits out today and covered him in mane and tail spray hoping to deter the mud. What do you do to keep them nice and silky in the awful weather? And whats the best way to help them to grow? I want the mane by his withers to grow down to his shoulder, but it seems shorter than the rest of the mane

Meet Nel, she has never had her mane pulled since I have had her (three years on Mothers day) I use Baby oil to keep the knots at bay and spend my time gently combing.... Just spend time working on it ( when she was last clipped before christmas, kat had a comb which she used which kepted the lenght but thin it out.... its still long but not so heavy....

well, I brush ebonys everyday, with a body brush, and squirt it with mane and tail conditioner. i brush the muddy bits and they come out, or i crumble them with my fingers, she doesn't get it knotty, i brush it everyday, i guess thats why. she does have a short mane at the withers though, which is annoying. but the rest of its quite long this photo makes it look short, and muddy! oh well and this is in april when we got her, ive never pulled or cut it have you got any piccies of your horses mane? and btw, I LOVE NELL!!! she's v gorgeous!

Tex's mane comes down to his elbow I use Cowboy Magic Mane and Tail Detangler which is fantastic but expensive. Also use pig oil but it's a bit messy. Try using a human hair brush (the ones with the plastic bendy prongs). I've ordered an Oster Mane and Tail brush, but still waiting for it to arrive.

Brys mane is nearly down to her shoulders on both sides, I brush it every day and use mane and tail conditioner. I can't plait it anymore as she rubs them and when I take then out I get handfuls of hair come out aswell.
