Not sure if soaking the hay might help--might be a touch of winter laminitis! My ned goes lame on dry hay

I am in exactly the same position. A montha ago when farrier and trimmer came out there was nothing to trim, the hoof wall and bars were all gone. This had been the opposite case all summer so it was due to the gound getting wet and me still riding her the same amount without her boots. Blue also has bone spavin so keeping her in isn't an option. I could give her her stable and the yard in front but then she would be walking on concrete so wearing her feet. Now my fields are pretty dry and not muddy so I have left her out but used her boots every time I ride, and yey, there is now some growth so her soles are a little further from the ground.
I hope you find a solution.

I think its the wet ground making the feet too soft. I noticed with mine that in the summer it was really hard to rasp his feet, but now they are really easy, like grating cheese almost. Couple that with slower growth due to no grass or less grass and they are going to get sore easier. You need to find a way of stopping the feet from wearing down faster than they grow somehow. Boots are the obvious answer. I have had to admit defeat and have put on shoes for the same reason. Hopefully will have another try in Spring.

Hoof supplements help too-I found hooves grew like ....well, something that grows very fast!-- on Top Spec. Had to stop using it because horse went totally psycho and then lame on it but his hooves have definately slowed down since. He never gets grass anyway so it's not that --I think I shall have to go back to using NAF biotin...although I think my trimmer will be glad not to have to rasp off so much growth. At any rate, TS might work for other folks with less hoof than they need

Well if the ned hasn't got sloppy droppings you're not overdoing it, so half a handful is probably OK

well i feed 65grms of cal mag for a 16,2 shire cross, 60 to my in foal mare, 55, to my almost 2 year old filly, and about 40gms to the pony livery i have here, so can anyone work out the avaiable mag in that, just that the mag ox will help the white line to stay tight,
