The Eriskay horse is older than Przewalski, Eriskay is a little island on the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, they are rare, but they can be ridden. there is a eriskay at the yard next to mine,he did stud duties till he was 5 i think then was gelded, hes a lovely boy & gets ridden alot even though hes a old lad now ;D

There were two Eriskay ponies at my pals old yard, at Dalmahoy, going back a few years, don't know if they are still there..... All Eriskay ponies are Grey.

Just looked them up.... they are like the Andalusians/Lippizzaners/Carmargue horses, they are predominantly grey with the occassional black/bay or brown, although are born bay/brown change to Grey with maturity.
and they range in height from 12hh - 13.2hh

Julz, can you explain: "The Eriskay horse is older than Przewalski"? Thanks

I had one for a while, the thing was a psychopath! An Eriskay, not a Prezwalski!
Eriskays are a domestic breed, Prezwalski is a true wild breed and bound to be much older in its history. Man would have taken the Eriskay to the Island, same as he took the Shetland to Shetland.

I'm sure you can Kirstie in the same way as you can get over height show dogs, collie, GSD... etc, if over height wouldn't be able to show them seriously or breed, as the theigh gene would be too tall......
