Im the same as mellies mum, Ria kisses me when I ask her to, and I trust her completely, but I wouldnt do it with any other horses on the yard as I don't have the bond with them that I have with Ria. She nuzzles me and blows into my face but I don't push her away for it. I think it depends on each individual horse, how well you know the horse, and the bond you have with that horse.

I'm another kissing owner I'm afraid. Both Toons and Spirit present their muzzle 'on command' when I say "kiss" and Spirit has always come to me by giving me a kiss on the cheek (and I did push him away EVERY TIME when he was younger as I too felt he was being a bit too much in your face and he would come to any visitor - "Hi I'm Spirit, mwwaaah (kiss)"). Didn't stop him. He's in a nippy mood lately so I am a bit more careful and always watch his ears and tell people to watch him but he loves it when I kiss his muzzle (I think he wants me to do the same I do with Toons who has the most kissable muzzle).
He knows very well he's not allowed to bite tho. When he starts nuzzling I just need to say "kindly" and he stops. Jaz on the other hand doesn't appreciate muzzle kisses but loves when I whisper in her ears. I am even more careful with her as she used to be headshy. Wouldn't do it to aggressive/defensive horses or stallions but most horses I know love to be kissed.

The relevant point is, I think, that it must be YOUR decision, and not your horses'. As long as you are making the rules and the horse is sticking to them, there's no problem. What you allow to happen is your own responsibility, and if your horses know they have to be asked to come to you, & not just barge in, it makes life safer for you & for whoever else might be in their vicinity.

Oh I kiss and cuddle my boys - wouldn't seem right not to show affection in that way. I am always on guard though because accidents can and do happen.
