Im 14 and i do it it may be bad and look grose but at the end of the day they cant do it themselfs can they. They relie on you. Put your self in their hoofs you would want yours washing wouldn't you xxxx jade p.s good look

Like Tammy, my vet told me to leave well alone! I would say, Jade, that if they cannot do it themselves, it's because they do not need to!

Someone told me years ago that once you started cleaning it you would have to do it for ever more but if you never did it then it would look after itself. My boy is now 17, I have had him since he was 3 and have never been within touching distance of his willy and don't intend to start now! Doesn't seem to have any ill effects, looks nice and pink and clean when he is 'looking relaxed'.

If I was nearer to you I would do it for you, although I ahve a mare now I have cleaned hundreds of geldings in the past, no one else could face it

Now I am thoroughly confused!! Some vets say do some say don't and you guys are of the same differing opinions. I am certainly in favour of Mother Nature taking her course in everything so happy to leave it if ok to. He isn't filthy but worried about the pea/bean bit and the damage it may do. Vet said smegma was carsonogenic (sp?) so that put the willy's up me ('scuse the pun, tee hee!!)
