same as some others. The arab from the posh stud that costs less than my daughter's kitten, but can trace breeding back to 1817. Plus circle Y saddle and bridle. A pair of boots and hat from Canada. My stuff is all working clothes and boots from my daughter, including hi-viz. She works in cement plants!!!

P O S H = people over seas hobnobbing! Oh! I was told POSH was Port Out Starboard Home, referring to the cabins occupied by the rich and famous on their sea journeys, pre-flying days!

POSH is port out starboard home and refers to the way a ship leaves the dockside and returns - can't remember which way it is but hubby informed me of this useless bit of info! As for Posh stuff owned, JW bridle Equitector boots JW team jacket JW Smug jacket JW Body protector JW sheepskin numnah JW II Riding hat Pessoa fleece rug Fal silver interactive stable rug Armadillo Magnotharapy rug Pie has 23 rugs at last count, have managed to convince O/H that he needs every last one! Jubilee has 5 rugs but only ever wears the lightweight turnout. Spoilt, the pair of them. If they did horse sized rolls of cotton wool, they'd be wrapped in it!!! In fact I own most of the JW range....shame it is shop stock, but it's all mine until it's sold and the odd bit finds it way home (What's the point in having the shop if Pie and Jubilee don't benefit). Now, how do I convince O/H that the 17" Avanzata saddle wold be far better at home and on Pie!

My Cheval de Selle Francais ex-steeple chaser from France (otherwise known as my Red muddy monster in the field!)
Oh yeah - and 'Port out, Starboard home' is correct - it refers to the way the ships sailed out to India and that the cabins on the port side (left as you look along the ship - nearside to us horse types!) where the prefered cabins on the way out to India but the Starboard (off side) were preferred on the way back as this meant that for most of the journey the cabin would not recieve the full heat of the tropical sun!

I brought my brother a book for christmas called "Port out, starboard home - and other language myths", or something like that - so presumably it meant it wasn't true. As I sent it direct from Amazon, I didn't get chance to read the real origin....
