I went to a leather shop today and you can buy a full sheepskin for £30 as I want one for my treeless. Just have to check with Jen1 (God that she is) about the level of thickness being sufficient under the stirrup bars. Machine washable too, just cut to shape.

I have a Numed- one of the thinner ones and saddle fitter said its fine, ive certainly had no problems with it. However i did splash out on a luxurious horse dreams pure sheepskin half pad and it is no good as it makes the saddle come off his withers too much. grr. so i have donated it to my friends mare i compete. Was annoyed about that as it felt so luxurious and felt gorgeous, got it from yuor horse live.
