We used to own a little coloured mare. I named her Polly Pickles, we had for 6 years until my brother outgrew her. I had hoped to drive her, but unfortunately finances didn't run to it! I got as far as buying a driving bridle for her! I believe she is now at the Heiland Stud. Sej, I couldn't help wondering if your boy might be her son? I know she had a colt by Harroway Mr. Harlequin that would be about 2 now and your boy has a Pixie-ish look about him! Here is a photo of Pickles when she was with us... (I think her last few owners called her Polly)

Thankyou for satisfying my curiosity! Your boy looks lovely and I guess the similarity is probably down to the welsh ancestors! I assume Pixie was part Welsh!

Naomi....nope...not all coloureds are cobby.
My boy is part American Saddlebred (with a dash of Quarter Horse on the Heinz side of his pedigree).

Funny you should ask that as altho my coloureds are Paint Horses, I think that on the bum side they do look quite cobby but that's actually the Quarter Horse in them, although from what I understand, american horses got colours from cob mares imported from the British Isles mixed with the already imported spanish/barb horses of the conquistadores.
