Well its been a horrible week at Mellor Towers...........we've had our lovely mare Crystal Atlantis PTS on Thursday and its broken Emma and me completely. She was 28 years old and for 20 of those years she lived with us.
What annoyed me though was one of my 'friends' on FB said 'stop getting emotional over a horse its a commodity at the end of the day' I was furious..........sent back the most scathing horrible reply.......completely lost it with her and then deleted and blocked her Yes I know possibly a tad over the top but no one tells me that a horse is a 'commodity' ever!
One the up side of things Emma has now got loads of lovely potential new horses being offered to her, please don't think we don't care about Crystal we did and always will love her to bits, but the sight of an empty box is more than we can stand right now, its horrible not seeing chestnut head poking out looking at everything, she was the Queen and darling of the yard everyone has been hit by her going.

A horse is a person - it is wrong and cruel to attack people for what they are feeling even when it is not apparently proportional, and those of us who have lost a horse know the horrible pain of it. Such a 'friend' is indeed best left far behind
I do think, however, that getting another horse is the best thing to do - you can never replace a lost horse, but you can have a new adventure with a different one.

aaw that's horrible they are not a commodity to anyone who really cares about them. We welcome them into our hearts and our homes and they are like family to us, (better than some family sometimes)!! So sorry for your loss Christine xx

You kind of have to feel sorry for those that have never experienced the love and friendship a pet can bring, her loss. Hope you are both feeling a bit better now

Well something rather strange happened last night............Emma got a message from a friend of hers asking her if we would care to take a look at a little 3 year old grey arab she has for sale so we had a look at the pictures and the little video and we liked it.........we liked it a lot........so we have sort of agreed a price for her, and she will be coming up to us in a few weeks, then we remembered we had no idea what her name was.............she is called CRYSTAL...........seems like fate really

So sorry for your loss. It's remarkable the way that horses can find their way to us.

there will be photos when she comes up to us just arranging for the transport for her.................everyone at the yard has said its fate that she is coming up here........she ahs happened along when we needed her most........never ever thought another Crystal would be coming to us but strange how things work out. Emma has had a smile on her face for the first time in over a week........and the yard is buzzing with anticipation of her new arrival..........our Crystal was the Queen and yard darling, everyone loved her, and everyone misses her more than we thought they would but another little Queen in the making is coming to live here and I can't wait
