Hi guys
Put this on horse help, just realised maybe it should be here.
Went over to a place this morning to pick up a fly mask I'd seen advertised, and the lady asked if I'd like to see her horses. Well....she has 16, 8 of which were in the field. All look healthy and well-fed, but she's 'Mummy' and they're very 'in your face' etc; I'm sure you get the picture. She then asked me if I'd like to see the stabled ones. So, we had a little tour. And...a dark barn, with stables inside, wet through floor, although the stables inside appeared clean. Saw the first ones, and then she asked if I'd like to see the 'Evil' one! I laughed, thinking she was joking, but no...she led me around the corner, to see a nice looking Exmoor. 'Why is he evil, I asked?' 'Well, he was a bottle-fed foal, and only mummy could feed him, wouldn't let daddy feed him, (her exact words- not me being facetious) and so on. I'd already told her that I'd got involved with IH, because of my first horse, so tried to (carefully) say a little more. Got the impression that she would love help, but hasn't the time, or the money. I asked her who was the boss, and she said, definitely him.How often does he come out of his stable? Well, she said, looking sheepish, not very often, partly because I haven't the time, but mainly because he's so difficult. She went on to say that very occasionally he'd be okay, but most times, to get him into his stable she got a lunge whip, oh, I don't hit him with it, I'd never do that, I just tap him, and he'll go in. I believe that they're well fed, and loved(too much) but she hasn't a clue what she's doing to him. The final straw that did it, was when she said, to trim his feet, we have to sedate him, twitch him, and blindfold him! I was almost in tears. I just want to bring him home. Yes, I know, call me mad, but I just wanted to get him out of there. I'm aware that a bottle-fed foal is one of the worse scenario's but I wonder how much her attitude is adding to his problems.
Can anyone help?
