Small world, I nearly bought a house near there! Ended up a couple of miles off the A39 near Bucks Cross(betweeen Bideford & Clovelly). I lunged my horse this morning but he still looks a bit unlevel. The good thing is I had already got another appt booked with the chiropractor for this coming weekend so I have not got long to wait. How are you doing? Are you getting to ride your horse out? Do you have good hacking? Can you get someone to walk or cycle out with you if you have no horse rider to call on? I'm glad to see you have "gone green".

Hi and thanks, yes, nice to be green at last. Only 'on the lanes' hacking, nothing off road, well, maybe one if I go and see the farmer! And yes, I could probably call on one person to walk out with me, but managed to ride out on Saturday, all on our own, and he was pretty good, so pleased with that. Will try again tomorow. Hope the chiropractor helps your boy! x

Hi guys, and thanks. Bit (lot) of a hold-up at the moment, as it's looking as if my shoulder may need surgery! I've been struggling along with it for 17 weeks now, but I moved it the wrong way yesterday, and am in agony again, so it's obviously not improving by itself. So, after having a melt-down.... why me, I've just wasted 3 weeks at Moor Wood etc; I'm going to treat it as an opportunity to do bit-training, groundwork and more walking out. He's such a grown-up boy now, I'm quite sure that we'll soon get back on track. So very disappointing, but worse things happen.... x

Sending a gentle hug so as not to hurt your shoulder. I don't think Moor Wood will have been a waste of time at all. It's good work that you can pick up, consolidated and extended later, not something remedial you'll have to spend weeks or months or more correcting. Sitting back and letting life just pass by would be a waste, but you totally don't strike me as a passenger. Illness and injury make the journey different but I think you'll make it your own. Just spending time with horses is a gift so don't feel like you're doing wrong by them just hanging out. xxx

Thanks portiabuzz and happysnail, And yes, not a passenger! Will put his new bit in, and spend some time grooming him, while he tells me what he thinks! Maybe practice having a bath too, could I do it with 1 hand? possibly! And if I wait until about 9pm, could go for a walk too. Little bit of groundwork on the yard, which is in the shade, although the flies are still horrendous, but he does have his fly rung on, albeit without the belly flap, as he came in yesterday with that ripped off, so a repair needed there! So plenty to do, just missing looking through his lovely ears!!

Yes, I like plans! Well, hopefully a bit of good news. I saw a lovely physio. today, very thorough, spent about 50 minutes going through history and assessing, and then another 30 minutes showing me different exercises. Plus, I slept last night, so maybe, fingers crossed, I'm on the mend. And, my new saddle arrived today, and, Morgan had his first 'proper' bath, and he was such a good boy! so a lovely day all round!

Hi again, Wendy. Sorry, I've only just caught up with your news. Sorry to hear about your shoulder but great that you have found a physio to help. I have a friend who has had quite a few ops on various joints (inc shoulders) due to arthritis and she has always come back to ride and drive again so do what you have to do for your own good, then you will be best placed to help your horse and to enjoy life together. By the way, my friend is older than you!
It sounds as if you are still doing well with Morgan. No time with a horse is wasted if you are both happy. I hope you continue well and with your positive attitude I'm sure you will.

Thank you for your lovely words, great to get support, this is a lovely forum, everyone is so helpful and supportive. Morgans' new girth arrived yesterday, so tomorrow I'm going to attempt to ride. My shoulder is improving, very slowly, but still....I'll give it a try and as long as it doesn't make it worse again, we're off!
