Does anyone know?? While out walking dogs along the Union Canal bank yesterday, I saw some Perch just below the water under a bridge, barely moving... It had been raining hard about an hour earlier, but at that time the sun was out. There were quite a few of them, in a group, it seemed like they were either sheltering from the weather or sleeping - do fish sleep? Don't know if all of you can see the video... www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152502837667490&set=vb.530952489&type=2&theaterthought it very bizzare

Perch will just rest in the water, especially running water as they don't need to make any effort to breathe. If they are not hunting most fish spend a lot of time stationary - don't know if they sleep as such though...

PB I thought fish had to move in order to get oxygen through their gills.. I know most species of sharks do
