I used to do this alot some years ago and it seemed for no apparent reason, however i could link it in with things like; getting up and changed in the morning when its cold, or if i hadn't eaten for a while. This stopped for some time and i gave no more thought to it.
Just recently it has started again but i can't link it to anything that triggers it off or a pattern of events. I'm not pregnant, i haven't really changed anything apart from i'm eating less calories but i'm not hungry. I was ill earlier in the year for about two months which saw my calorie intake drop and its just stayed that way since, there is a gap of about two months between being better and this retching starting. I'm not sure what could be causing it, normally i retch a few times and it passes, but i don't bring anything up. I've retched on and off throughout the day and nothing has come up, but yesterday evening and this evening after having a shower i've retched so hard i brought up bile but its not real vomiting. It's starting to get to me now and i'm not too sure what to do about it, i don't feel my doctors would be all that fussed about looking into it plus getting an appointment with them is normally a good few weeks wait.
Could something like this be linked to stress?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Could it be stress?
My mum & I both suffer from retching/vomiting & both worse in the mornings. When I'm worried about something its always really bad. Hope you get to the bottom of it, its unpleasant x

Hope you feel better soon Teeni, that sounds awful. I am sure it could be stress related, would eating more regularly ie having a snack between meals help?

could be a form of panic attack. They have all sorts of symptoms I don't see why yours couldn't be retching. Panic attacks can come on for no apparent reason - so why not?

Thanks ladies
Apparently it is something in the family related to nose and throat, my mum suffers with it terribly and apparently my brother has some troubles too, not that i was aware of that, but i don't think either of them have a trigger or anything that makes it worse.
Anyway i was really bad last week to the point of actually bringing up bile not proper vomit two evenings in a row Saturday morning i did it again but most of the weekend i was fine, that was until i came back home and was talking to my mum about work and ended up being sick again, it is purely from retching so hard that this happens. This week i have hardly retched at all.
I've come to the conclusion that it is stress / anxiety that is triggering the amount and severity of it.
I've booked a double appointment with the doctors for early July to discuss adult acne (another thing i seem to have inherited from my mum) and also the retching issue

Thanks Portiabuzz, I will hopefully do an update when I've seen the doc
Nothing to cause me any stress or anxiety last night and I was retching badly again, it's so frustrating and to a degree embarrassing.

Well I saw the doc yesterday, It is something that is caused by the sinuses and she has given me a nasal spray to try to help the route cause. I explained what I thought were the triggers for the retching and being sick, she agrees that it is stress/anxiety causing the severity of what I'm experiencing. I think she was about to sign me off work for a couple of weeks but I don't really want it on my record so I was advised to take a week off as you can self certificate for the first week.
I feel terrible as now really isn't a good time for me to be off work but my health and well being is far more important.
There are only so many times you can ask for help and if that person chooses not to listen and do anything, well that leaves me in a difficult position. I'm far from a drama queen and wouldn't ask for help if I was managing but things have got out of control and I asked for help before that point and continued to ask for help when things got worse. It's a horrible situation to be in, it really is.

That sounds really miserable teeni, I hope you can rest and relax in your week off, and go back refreshed. Do you think it's work causing the stress?
