So, you remember a few weeks ago I posted that my GP wanted to send me to the Gastro unit for an colonoscopy?
I saw the doctor, he had a feel of my tummy and diagnosed IBS..
Which I find really weird, (I do not agree with him) I've had IBS on and off for years since my 20's and I have never had it like this. It really is gripping pain, doubles you up, want to die kind of pain. Then there's the swopping of gut changes, one minute diarrhoea the next constipation, then back to diarrhoea again, without any meds involved.. I just have the latter. (again and again and again)
GP told me not to change my diet (so nothing would have changed prior to me seeing this man) so I didn't but since then (diet) I have been eating less bread, doesn't make a difference as to weather I eat it or not, or what colour it is.. (brown/white/mixed/granary/seeded..) (actually I'm allergic to seeded so don't eat it that often)
I'm taking buscopan one or two a day as three a day slows my gut too much. Today (thankfully after I got out the swimming pool) it all started again, I shall leave details to your imagination, but suffice to say I had to get dressed in a hurry, grab my phone, and purse and leave the rest of my things to fate (Or my friend after I managed to turn phone on and phone her..)
Yes, so now I'm sat here after having a buscopan, and loperamide capsule, which apparently didn't work all that well, and feeling rather dizzy, and unstable.
If I don't start feeling better later, I'll be back on the phone to NHS24, and probably the GP on Monday..
Incidently the hopsital dr took bloods and a stool sample and haven't heard back for the results since.... (4weeks ago)

Oh yuk I feel for you.. It must be miserable.. Sounds like your going to have to fight and make their lives a bit miserable so they will pay attention and make you a priority... For years I suffered with ibs tho never anything like you are going through and for me getting that under control was very much about my diet. I have by process if elimination cut out all meat, beef of any kind was a serious problem... I'm fine with wheat, can eat pasta every day without a problem, cannot eat apples.. Or tomato.. And even a lot of herbs that are supposed to settle stomachs upset mine a lot.. They now say peppermint isn't good but if I have a dodgy tummy day I have peppermint capsules that are resistant to stomach acid so only dissolve in the gut and I find them fab.. Not much help to you right now but you have my sympathy... hugs..

got a GP coming out... it's all started again and am in agony... I don't even feel like I can climb into a taxi and be driven over all those speed bumps.. I can't eat a lot of beef either.
Mince might be worse as when it's mashed like that the bacteria is all over it, not just on the outside of it, which is why mince must be cooked all the way through, and why a steak you can eat rare.. because the bacteria has been killed through heat and by touching the hot surface.
Maybe it is IBS but why is it being such a pain now?

I hope they help you! I never knew why mince has to be cooked but not steak.. It's kinda gross!! I cannot digest beef, it just sits in my gut for days causing all kinda of problems.. But I don't want to eat meat anyway! But I also have problems with dairy, not just lactose.. I'm weird! Anyway hope your feeling a bit better by now..

Jen - erm no thanks, can't stand coffee.. and that was 5 words lol Kizi, I'm the same with pork, as in pork joint, it just sits in my stomach until it decides to reappear. Am fine with bacon, sausages, etc, but bizzarly can't eat jelly sweeties that have pork gelatine in them.. Years ago I'd start "collapsing" whenever I'd eaten any pork, when it first starting happening I couldn't pinpoint the cause, I had one particular bad experience when I was unable to move for 8 hours (symptoms were, extreme lethargy, bloatedness, couldn't stand noise, and being very cold) I end up on the floor in front of the gas fire and wait for it to pass, it literally started for 20 mins and built up over a period of time to 8 hrs... went to GP who sent me to blood bank where they do specific allergy tests, that DR said that pork didn't cause problems like that (oh there was no question in his eyes it was pork that was the problem) he did agree to doing a blood test and tested it with Mushrooms, tomatoes, shellfish, pork, and something else..... everything but the pork came back normal, Pork came back with a moderate level, and was advised to stay off it for 6 months... i stayed off it for 6 yrs lol, but now sausages are fine, bacon was never a problem, but still won't eat a pork joint. he did also say that the experiences were probably mild anaphylatic shock, but not dangerous enough to cause a real problem... My sister is also sensitive to dairy products and can't even eat milk chocolate..

By the way, am feeling much better today, and the GP kinda agree'd with me when I said I disagreed with the consultants diagnosis, and said I should go back to my GP, who I will be phoning tomorrow

By the way, am feeling much better today, and the GP kinda agree'd with me when I said I disagreed with the consultants diagnosis, and said I should go back to my GP, who I will be phoning tomorrow Good I'm glad! Our bodies are strange! But I think by leaning to listen to them we can help ourselves a lot. 3 years ago I had extensive tests, mri's, X-rays, scans the lot to diagnose the extent of my arthritis, mostly rheumatoid but also Osteo and they wanted to do a few surgeries and start me on lots of drugs.. And I did go got those tests for a reason, I couldn't function.. Then life took over and my partner passed away and as a result if having to cook for myself (haha) my whole diet changed and so did my physical health... I'm 34 and it's the healthiest I have been my whole life... It's weird! Anyway.. Irrelevant..! Good luck with your gp and if he doesn't listen go back to that other one!!

Unfortunetly I don't know what practice he works at.. but my GP is pretty good...
I was thinking.. if it was the bread I ate yesterday (Hovis best of both) what alternatives are there apart from Rye bread? I seem to be ok with Pita..
I also was losing weight, but that's stopped now, despite me still keeping to the plan.. body must be telling me something, but what?
