tripped over a mucking out fork on Monday ay the yard as I was coming out of the feed room...............knew it was there but thought I had stepped round it but...........caught my foot fell face first whacked upper right arm on a very very solid stone doorframe result ambulance gas and air and technically a right humeral shaft fracture.............for fracture read well and truly broken just below the shoulder joint. Spent Monday night in hospital being fed various painkillers including morphine...........arm now in plaster cast from shoulder to just below elbow going back for check up on Monday and praying its stayed put and I don't have to have it pinned!

Ouch!! That sounds nasty. I thought I had a farcical day yesterday but I've not come off as badly as you.
I went to QMC for my 28 week scan - all is well with baby. But first, we arrived early for our appointment so thought we would have a quick comfort break and then grab a bite to eat for breakfast. We never made breakfast, as the door handle broke on the ladies loo, trapping me, an ambulance lady and a phlebotomist inside for 35 MINUTES!! OH tried to kick the door down and couldn't, the security people tried and failed to get in, and even a passing chap who confessed to being an ex-burglar couldn't get in! In the end a joiner was called who broke the handle with a hammer and chisel and got us out.
So then we made it to clinic, had scan, had blood pressure and pee checked, then waited an hour to see the consultant. Then went for my bloods (I don't like needles), and waited almost another hour for the staff to find my anti d injection (as I'm rhesus negative). Anxiety is building about this injection, so I'm sitting on the edge of my seat in the waiting room, feeling cold but not wanting to put my coat on as if I feel hot when having needles I have a track record of vomiting. I keep looking around for staff who look like they might call us, and in doing so I manage to put two facet joints out of alignment just above my SI joint! Unbelievable. So I limped out of QMC, got steadily worse as everything went in to spasm and ended the day crawling up the stairs, sobbing in pain. Can't take anti inflammatories as I'm pregnant. Luckily I got in with my lovely physio this morning who spent an hour trying to release the muscles, and thank goodness it's eased off loads through the day. I've had to force myself to walk normally and be on my feet most of the day to stop it seizing up, and now it's feeling so, so much better, I'm hopeful it might be back to normal by the weekend.
Hopefully you will be fixed soon, and I really hope you're not in too much pain!

Oh Christine.... well,...that's one way to get out of mucking out for a bit!! LOL
No seriously,..hope you're not in too much pain and the bone knits back together so no need for pinning anything.
My pal (who's wheelchair bound,..horse riding accident 9 years ago now), literally fell out of her wheelchair last june and broke her leg,..!!! It's taken some 9 months to mend and for her bones to knit back together. Thankfully it's nearly healed now, as her next option was for it to be pinned.

SI = sacroiliac joint. The bit where your spine joins your pelvis, basically.
Facet joints are the joints between the little bits of bone which stick out from each vertebral body. If you look at a spine, the vertebrae are stacked in a column and they have little "wings" sticking out from each side. The joints between the "wings" are facet joints.
