Does anyone know any good websites / shops for these? It would be to put on tables at the evening reception to get extra pics from the guests we do have offical photographer too Not bothered about personalised etc (gets expensive) got around 150 guests at night, but was thinking a few per table so just plain cheap and chearful disposable cameras...any ideas appreciated! thanks x

Given that everyone has cameras on their phones these days, you might be better setting up a web page where you could ask people to upload any photos they take on their phone.

The cameras themselves are quite cheap, but the cost of processing the films will be significant - especially bearing in mind how many photos are likely to be rubbish. ruthp's suggestion makes more sense to me. If you do go down the camera route look on ebay there are loads of packages of cameras for weddings - cost about £2 each.

Yes, disposable cameras were great in their day but have been overtaken by a camera in nearly every phone.

Having worked in the photo processing business for nearly 11 years, I've learnt a couple of tips about just this type of thing. (If you decide to do it.) Put sticky labels on the cameras asking people to use the flash. You'd think by now that people would understand the importance of using flashes indoors on analogue cameras, but a lot don't (especially the younger ones who are more used to modern digital photography.) Also, after a bit of alcohol people may forget and need reminding You could also write on the label asking people to feel free to use the cameras, but to remember to leave them on the tables at the end of the night for you, and not to take them home with them. (One lady I remember put cameras on tables and never saw most of them again.) Instead of getting the photos printed, it would probably be loads cheaper to ask for them to be put onto CD only. (All onto one disc, if the shop will do it - and there shouldn't be a reason why that can't be done.) You often find that a lot of pics are dark or blurred, or really far away, or of people's plates of food, or taken down girl's tops, or kids get hold of them and take pointless pictures. It then gets very expensive to have whole films printed when there may only be a few good ones on each If they are put onto CD, you can then edit and only print off the ones you want. (I'm not suggesting that all your guests will behave this way. Just from years of experience of seeing people's wedding pics done like this ) Check each camera afterwards. Some don't get fully used up and you can then use the last few pictures yourself on honeymoon, or of the horses, or anything really to get your money's worth from each one before they are processed. One last suggestion, I know that Max Spielmann do quite good deals on single use cameras, and they do the prints from them for free on a longer service if you did want prints first time. (They did last I heard, anyway.) You may even be able to substitute prints for a free CD instead. They are pretty good there for doing deals, especially with bulk buys / orders. Hope the planning is going smoothly. All the best with it P.S. Jack is doing good. Sends slobbery kisses

My sister did this at her wedding last year, was great fun. She had specifically asked people not to upload onto fb & most guest didn't have there phones on them (wedding & reception was in one place). I think she bought them off ebay & there was some absolute belters amongst the photos, that no doubt would have been deleted off digi cams.

Agree with Wills. I must admit that doing it this way does often provide you with some very funny photos. You get to see things from a unique point of view that even a professional photographer wouldn't get! Plus, you get to see a lot of the funny goings-on that you miss whilst you are doing your mingling elsewhere

We did this for my daughter's wedding in 2011. Bought purple cameras on line, to match the flowers and bridesmaids dresses, and left one on each table. I think we stuck labels on them asking people to use them and leave them on the table. We had the photos put onto discs, and as Hazel has said, you do get a wonderful insight into the hilarities going on while you're on the top table having polite conversation with the in-laws! Definitely worth doing, even if you don't get them all back. We also asked people to email any photos they took on their phones. Makes the wedding album so much more interesting.
