And does it matter?
We don't garden, would like the kids to be able to grow the odd.thing tho. Looking at a garden which is 120 feet, does size matter, when it comes to the direction?!
Garden would be for.kids to play in, but we.do like a bbq... Thoughts?

South! And yes it does matter if you want to grow anything. South or west for growing, definitely not north. And south west is best for BBQ as you'll have evening sun.

A lot willl depend on what you have throwing shadow, mine is north facing but all down one side of the garden is in full sun now, the bottom will stay in sun all day until the evening and as the sun moves round to the west we'll have a bit more shadow as the garage blocks some of the sun more as it's lower in the sky. I'd imagine at 120' if there's not much overshadowing you you'll end up with a far bit of sun.

Our garden faces east. It is long and thin with 5'hedges on all sides, and 2 very big trees near the house. If you want to sit in the sun you have to keep moving, the sun goes off the patio at about 4pm. On the whole the garden is cool. We don't get the long sunny evenings in the garden and the beautiful sunsets, that I had where I grew up. My parents garden faced west onto fields. I really miss those sunsets, I didn't realise how lucky I was at the time. The field I rent runs east, west with the Downs to the south, so the sunsets are fab.
