Hope she did well. I ran it for my 50th birthday treat (mad I know but just had the desire but never again!)- that was 7 years ago and had to raise £1500 for Headway. They make you agree as so many apply but if you get a charity ticket they don't want it to be wasted by people applying without the commitment. I managed to raise over £2000 in the end - people are so generous and if you know you have to do it I found it was better than just asking the same few.
Its really tough and totally mad but a fantastic experience. I look back now and just cannot believe that it was actually me and I was thinking nothing of going out for a 15 mile run! Apparently marathon running is 5% in the body and 95% in the mind.
Well done her!!!!

Thanks everyone, I will pass on your messages. She is getting close to the amount she has to raise now and hopefully the quiz night her brother in law is organising soon will get the final couple of hundred pounds. She said just after she finished that she will never do another one but is checking the dates to apply for next year now!
Holi, that is the strangest treat I have heard of but I bet it felt good when you had finished and realised what you had achieved. Well done!

It is a treat sophy and I know just how she must be feeling. I can remember going out for my last 20 miler and everything was just perfect - made me cry! Well done her - she can look back on that with a real sense of acheivement and actually it also looks good on CV's so tell her to mention it.
