Couple years ago GP thought I might be borderline perimenopausal, she did a hormone blood test that revealed one of the hormones was a bit high, on going to see a consultant at the relative dept at hospital they couldn't say for sure as the result wasn't enough on it's own.
These days (god I sound old...) I havent had a period for 3yrs.. had one in Dec, lasted nearly a week.. and not had one since..
It's March now, normally I still have my 3 blankets on my bed, and leccy blanket on... but now it's blankets off, leccy blanket off, and wake up in the wee small hours roasting hot, off with the duvet, back to sleep, then wake up blimming freezing and duvet back on... do that atleast 4/5 times during the night.
bit of a pointless post really....

That sounds like me after I had a complete hysterectomy, think they call them night sweats. It did go after a while, but was not a nice experience while it lasted.
I used to fight with Terry when shopping as to who held the cold trolly when I had a hot flush. LOL

Yup, I know all about these symptoms too. But, I have inadvertently discovered not a cure, but at least a way to dramatically reduce the temperature changes. I had decided to cut out complex carbs to try and help with weight management. So I stopped eating bread, pasta, rice and potatoes. I was quite surprised by how easy it was, but also discovered that both day time hot flushes and night sweats were far less frequent and milder than they had been before.
After my foot surgery I couldn't really cook, so resorted to living on sandwiches, and the flushes and night sweats returned with a vengeance. Back off the carbs again now and the thermostat seems to be working properly once more.

That's interesting Ruth as Im on a diet (two as Im mixing them lol) where Im allowed to eat as much rice/pasta as I want, but limiting bread and potatoes, which appears to be working lol
Maybe I will go back to GP and ask for bloods to be repeated
