Other Mummies that have. How long did you nurse for ? And why did you stop.
Little man is going to be 6 months this month and still Bfing and I am starting to get the comments "Time to stop that soon when he is eating solid food" or the "you're STILL Bf" He is not even 6 months old yet!!!
The WHO recommend the first 2 years ! I Am not sure about that but thought until his 1st birthday unless he self weans before. what did you guys do ?? X

Yeah, I do love a success story, well done, I tried but wasn't able to but I'd go with, are you both happy? If yes you have your answer.
I think sometimes teething has a lot to do with stopping breastfeeding, I imagine it could get very painful if he's trying to use you as a teething toy, also the incorrect assumption that it doesn't provide enough for the baby but I think that as long as the both of you are happy then everyone else should mind their own business.

I breast feed my first until four months when her refkux needed needs that were more effective in a bottle.
As long as you are both happy carry on!
I do think the who guidance has a lot to do with countries with poor water supply or nutrition.
But if I were you I'd carry on until I could go straight to cows milk age one, assuming all still suiting you both. Well done!

When I had my children the advice was to start on solids (baby rice) at 3 months and wean by 6 months. (She'll be 30! this year). I tried to carry on bf beyond 6 months but she didn't want it, and she chewed, OUCH!!! so that was that. The other two were much the same, but that is probably because they were getting a decent amount of solid food by then, and being small and female like me, they didn't have a lot of growing to do.

My almost sister-in-law carried on until a year-ish. Her daughter wanted less and less as she got towards a year and started on solids, she pretty much weaned herself. Ignore others, it's your baby, do what's right for you.

I bf all my 3 and pretty much they all self weaned between 10 and 14 months old. After they'd been introduced to solids and on a steady solid diet the bfeeding was just at bedtime - comfort for them and me! Lol Your baby, your relationship, your way - smile sweetly at those advising you to stop now because.........? an. Tell them all in good time baby will decide. Have confidence that you will know when the time to stop is right for you and your baby. X

Until he was eight nearly nine months old, he stopped wanting to be fed and wanted a bottle and he was eating food too.

8 months old, he was born at 11 llbs, its was hard work , but the most important part of being a mum to me! Loved it , missed it, he started getting fussy over which boob he was having , walking round with 1 boob ready to go and 1 boob small was not a good look ! Lol

Well I lasted 4 days, it just didn't work for us, I was upset at first but hey ho its not the end of the world & my boy has been a reasonably healthy wee chap & a right chunky . I chose to start Rory on solids about 4 & 1/2 months (he still took loads of milk) I don't personally believe a baby needs to wait to 6 months. Hes your baby, your body, your decision and you will know when the time is right. Trust yourself x

Thanks all... I am happy as long as my boy is happy and healthy. BF isnt right for every mum or baby and I think babies should be fed by boob or bottle which ever works for them. Bf isnt easy (or hasnt been for us) and I have worked very hard to keep going with it. I feel I will stop when my little man wants too. But can only take some many comments about giving up soon before I start to wobble like I am doing something wrong rather than feeding my son. Its a funny old world as a new mum the pressure is high to BF but if you feed for what some consider too long its frown on. Sometimes you just can win can ya.. Thanks again x

Wills before I had Arthur and when I was totally never having kids I thought it was gross. I remember a friend telling me she was still Bfing her 1 yr and I was totally judgemental of it. I couldn't have changed more if I tried. I will be gutted when he weans haha. BF isn't for everyone it is however very natural! !
And I am now a Public feeder too much to many peoples annoyance. I feed wherever I am and the amount of grumping that people do or staring its mad. Its my baby having lunch pretty boring really. But yet it still seems to offend some folk. Hey HO....

As a first time mum the whole world thinks they can tell you what you should be doing. Load of old rubbish most of the unsolicited advice fortunately, when you get to the second folks seem to mind their business more lol Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards

But yet it still seems to offend some folk. Hey HO.... We are a strange breed, even non horsey folk will often oooh and awww at a foal suckling but a human baby, a whole differant matter. I wonder if people watching are embarrassed partly because the vast majority think it's nice and wouldn't think twice about watching a baby sucking on a bottle don't want to be thought of as looking at someone's boob incase the mum is embarrassed.
