I've now finished the patchwork element of a quilt I'm making, (about 500 hand stitched hexagons) and ordered some gorgeous taffeta to sew it onto. But, I've never made a quilt before and don't know what sort of wadding I need. I want it to have a bit if weight, but I also want to be able to do the quilting with my elderly Singer (circa 1960) so it can't be too thick.
Any advice?
P.S. As I'm unable to drive at the moment I'm having to order online, so detailed descriptions much appreciated!

I usually just use a standard medium weight wadding. My machine copes with it fine :-)

Cotton or polyester? I assume cotton is heavier, which I think I'd prefer, but wanted to be sure the machine would be ok.

Polyester. Not tried cotton but I can't see why it shouldn't be ok.

Well, I finished the quilt yesterday, and it is now on the bed. Quite pleased with it for a first attempt, but I'm going to make another one for the spare room which will be squares and rectangles and a different sort of palette.

That is fantastic, I bet there is a lot of blood sweat and tears in there, love the fact it's hexagonal.
