Evening all!
Does anyone tow with a hyundai Santa Fe 2.2crdi? I am looking for a towing vehicle and quite like these. Don't want a pickup as would find the back a pest for trying to get stuff in and out etc, and the hyundai seems to be at the better end of the fuel consumption for these SUV types.
Thanks!
S

They don't have a very big towing capacity at 2000-2200kg depending on spec, so you would need a lightweight trailer.

Good car in general apparently. Expensive on parts though but dont break down much. Service parts expensive. Up to 2 half ton for towing.

I would be towing mostly my own horsey who will be 500kg max and if any passengers be max 600kg, so 1100kg total horse.
Do they have enough oomph for such?!

That will depend on the weight of your trailer. I like to have a few hundred kilograms to spare

I doubt with that towing capacity that you'll be able to tow two. Depends on the weight of your trailer as you have to add that in. which trailor do you have/were you looking at?
My tiguan has 1800 or 2000 capacity, I'm reluctant to town at all with it to be honest.

Technical figures of the crdi 2.2 diesel manual engine are:
Max towing weight braked 2500kg Min kerb weight 1920kg Max loading weight 650kg
What would anyone recommend be the most towed with that?

I understand that to mean you can tow up to 2500, which means the IW doubles are out but the single is possible... www.iwt.co.uk/products/horsebox/hb403?tab=specI believe you can get tailors down graded. eg to the max weight you have but then you'd have to add trailor weight and horse weight all tog and make sure you come under 2500 Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards

Having seen one in the flesh I would not put a horse in a cheval - they are so flimsy.

Having seen one in the flesh I would not put a horse in a cheval - they are so flimsy. I bought my tiguan to tow with. Before I had even really been a passenger towing... I love the car but I continue to hire an IW, disco and driver. The theory and the reality can feel quite different. my, badly made, point is buy yourself as much towing capacity as you possibly can. Can anyone else please shed any light as to if the Santa Fe would tow an ifor Williams, say a 510 for example, plus two horses, max horse weight 1000kg?

IW 510 is about 2600kg with 2 horses so not within santa fe's limit, the 505 is a bit lighter.
