Ok, so Little Basset Boy who is staying with me for a while, got told off by Tara last night, and accidently caught his over huge lug with her teeth... he now had a little tear in it. it looks worse than it is, because of the amount of bleeding, and vet receptionist said to bandage it... No can do, she's having a laugh surely!!
he keeps opening it because of the shaking he does.. So I thought maybe get some steri strips on it.. would that work.. it will be a two man job anyway to get it on, as he's not a fan of having his ears/eyes/face handeled but he's getting better.. may have to get a tail bandage and bandage his muzzle shut.. what else? wound powder maybe?
Idea's please

I think the bandage is to apply pressure otherwise blood builds up in the tissue in the ear but no ideas sorry Julz

was told to do salt washings.. I thought the easiet way of doing this was in the bath (he has very long ears) it did work, but then I also had to wash off the blood that was all over him... on getting out, he shook, slapped his ear against the bath and reopened it, splattering himself with more blood, lol, i gave up at that point

A tip my vet gave me is that ordinary sticking plaster can stick quite well on dog hair, and can be removed with nail polish remover so that you don't pull all the hair off afterwards! I've used it to good effect on a greyhound tail, which took ages to heal because she kept wagging it, and bashing the cut on everything around.
Might work well on an ear too.

youtu.be/XYODiWeYW4cHope these are helpful. You can also use the arm of a jumper or similar depending on size of head to use as a sort of snood.

i ahve decided not to bother... he's a tad aggressive round his face area and too much to get it on, let alone off again.. if it stays put... wound is now dry and not looking too bad. I'll give it a salt bath later if he lets me

Haven't read all but when my dog did that the only way I could stop it was to bandage around his whole head to keep ear held in place because every time he shook his head it reopened and sent sprays of blood all over floors walls and ceilings! A friend who is a pet first responder also suggested superglue on the wound to close it quickly

Am back! Ya superglue. My fella had a small tear in the end of his ear, it was late Sunday evening and the house was destroyed in blood splatter and I did mention it to the vet after and she said it would have been ok. If it hadn't worked the blood would have got rid of it. The bandaging his ear to his head worked perfect though so no need for the glue. Don't think I had any anyway... It's a common problem especially with long ears!
