Yes! Sorry He was called Spike at the cats home but we've renamed him Smudge. Yes he does have a bit of black on 1 foot too.

I think Smudge suits him better, he's got smudges but I can't see any spikes. I know he's going to be a house cat but do his health problems affect him in any other way?

At the moment he is in perfect health - and as far as I've been told and read up on the subject - he could stay that way for years. Some FIV cats live out a perfectly normal life span - others start getting ill and die in 2 or 3 years. (he's already 4) I would have thought keeping him in will probably help, if he's not coming into contact with other cats that may be ill. I do wonder if there is anything we can give him as an immune boost and intend to talk to the vet about it soon.

Excellent that you've taken him on - he's adorable Good to hear of someone taking on a cat with FIV, so many rescues will PTS because it's hard to find homes for them. Clip clop, the analogy of a horse being kept in a stable from a foal doesn't compare to a cat being kept indoors. We often keep horses in areas that are smaller than they'd like - keeping a horse in a stable 24/7 would be like keeping a cat in a large crate all the time. It's not the same as being in a house/flat, with room to play, climb, hide etc. I'd say that a house cat with sufficient stimuli - toys, boxes, shelves, cupboards and humans to play with would lead a better life than a lot of horses kept in half acre paddocks on their own like so many horses seem to be kept. Even in our not very big flat, there's plenty of room for the young cat to charge around flat out and amuse himself. It's up to the humans to provide enough entertainment - and yes, expect their carpets, curtains etc to get a bashing as well (although our young cat, who is indoors at the moment, has left the carpets and furniture alone so far).

Well here he is! (if I can post the pictures )
He spent the first evening hiding in the airing cupboard and most of the next day hiding behind the telly but he has found his feet now and is getting his slaves trained to the required standard. awwww lovely!!! xxxx
