That is such a shame, I'm glad it wasn't a more serious injury though bad enough. My mare had a really bad confidence problem and I wouldn't even have risked getting on her, half the time it was a job to get in the same field as her lol but I'm pleased to hear you're working through it and I hope you manage to get back on board safely.

Hi Nomdeac Sorry to hear of your set-back, hope you are getting better. Some great advice already, just two little things I would like to add: Please wear a body protector when riding, not just for safety but it can also help you with your own confidence having that extra bit of protection just in case (if you are not already wearing one) Do you have someone that could lead another horse with you? something old and calm. You could walk them out together and hop on and off yours if you feel like it, this will help both of you gain confidence and a good basis for being able to hack out with another horse in the future. It is very easy for a young horse to loose confidence. Keep us posted

Your dedication to Rocky to help him to overcome his fears is great despite all that has happened. Its so hard to find the confidence when they spook and are so frightened of things, especially when you are on their back! I hope you feel better soon.
I also have a horse called Rocky who is 5 and had similar experiences. He is very spooky and I had problems with him stopping in the road and not going past a lead horse on a hack or if he did lead anything scary he decided to stop and plant his feet.
We are now working on lots of ground work and I haven't ridden him for 2 months until I feel confident that he feels safe with me and is listening to me in those scary situations. The perfect manners ground exercises have helped so much for me. I'm sorry to hear you fell off and hurt yourself badly.
You have already had some great advice, I hope things move forward for you both. Big hugs to you xx
