I have found these great for dealing with (drained) soaked hay and in the rain. They are not warm enough for general use down at -4 etc. but great general purpose with good grip too. They are fully water proof but you cannot immerse them as there is a stretchy bit on the back. www.arco.co.uk/products/14G4800

OH is a GP and has Reynauds, he's got quite a knack for operating his iPhone with the tip of his nose so he doesn't have to take gloves off! I laugh at him but maybe it would be worth some practice if you really can't take off gloves? He uses woollen socks and silk liners etc for motorbiking and also swears by Jack Wolfskin stuff which seems really warm and cosy. Not sure how practical it is for horses, but the Jack Wolfskin gloves seemed to do the trick last week when he was mucking Gazdag out for me as my back was too sore! You can apparently now get iphone gloves that can be worn and you can use your iphone/ipad or whatever while wearing them!!! A friend at work got some for Xmas

Just to add, I agree with LizP keeping your whole body very warm helps a lot. I wear a few layers and two pairs of socks and trousers or woolly tights under my trousers. Yes, and with my long coat and oversize wellies I am the local fashion icon. ;D
